This session will highlight key factors to keep in mind regarding business valuation for estate planning, including areas that generally draw heightened IRS scrutiny. Additionally, the session will cover recent court cases and legislative risks that impact business valuation and could affect your clients' estate plans.\n \nAtticus Frank is a Regional Director of HBK’s Florida Valuation Group, which includes offices in Fort Myers, Naples, Sarasota, Stuart, and Boca Raton. His valuation focus includes gift and estate tax, transaction advisory, and dispute and litigation support. Atticus has provided valuation services for internal and succession planning; gift and estate tax planning and compliance; buy/sell agreements; mergers and acquisitions; litigation support; and financial reporting purposes. His business valuation experience also includes financial education, valuation, and other strategic financial consulting to multi-generation family businesses.\n \nPrior to joining HBK, Atticus was a Vice President at Mercer Capital Management, Inc. where he was involved in hundreds of business valuation engagements. Atticus also spent time at D-R Media and Investments, a media business based in Venice Florida where he led a division of the company and served as CFO. Atticus is the President of the Venice Area Estate Planning Council, and a member of the Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council, the CFA Society of Tampa Bay, ACG Tampa Bay, the Exit Planning Institute of Sarasota, and the FICPA. Atticus serves as the Treasurer of the State College of Florida Foundation Board of Directors, on the Charlotte Community Foundation’s Finance and Audit Committee, and on the FICPA’s Valuation, Forensic Accounting, and Litigation Services Committee. He was also appointed to the Sarasota County School Board Financial Advisory Committee.
